How to draw a monkey

  1. Start with Basic Shapes: Begin by sketching basic shapes to outline the monkey's body. Use a circle for the head and an oval or rounded shape for the body.

  2. Add Facial Features: Within the circle, draw two smaller circles for the eyes, placing them at an appropriate distance apart. Add a smaller circle or oval for the nose and a curved line for the mouth. Don't forget to include the ears—these can be drawn as smaller circles or curved shapes on the sides of the head.

  3. Sketch Limbs and Tail: Extend lines or curved shapes from the body to create the arms and legs of the monkey. Monkeys typically have long limbs, so draw these accordingly. Include the tail by drawing a long, curved line extending from the back.

  4. Refine Body Shape: Connect the shapes you've drawn for the body, arms, legs, and tail to create a cohesive form for the monkey. Add more details to the limbs by shaping them to appear more natural and monkey-like.

  5. Define Facial Features: Enhance the facial features by adding more detail to the eyes, such as pupils and eyebrows. Refine the nose and mouth, and add texture to the ears if desired.

  6. Add Fur Details: Draw small curved lines or short strokes around the body to represent the monkey's fur. Focus on areas where shadows and highlights would naturally fall, such as the top of the head, back, and limbs.

  7. Finalize and Erase Guidelines: Go over your sketch, refining any lines and adding final details. Once you're satisfied with the drawing, erase any initial guidelines or shapes that are no longer needed.

  8. Optional: Color or Shade: You can choose to color your monkey drawing using pencils, markers, or digital tools. Use shades of brown or gray for the fur, and add lighter highlights and darker shadows to create depth.

Remember, drawing takes practice, so don't worry if your first attempt doesn't turn out perfectly. Keep practicing and experimenting with different styles until you're comfortable drawing monkeys in your own unique way!
